Thought for Food Wednesday

After what feels like a week long eating festival of holiday family meals and gatherings with friends I contemplated taking a few days off and just fasting, but let's not get to crazy I think i will just keep it lighter for a while, cut out snacking and increase my water intake.

Breakfast: Didn't get a picture but I ate half a chocowalla bar with some peanut butter before heading to the gym.

Lunch: fruit smoothie(O.J., banana, frozen fruit) Egg sandwich (Rudi's Organic Flax English muffin, egg, spinach, havarti cheese and avocado)

Dinner: Chili (I found this halftime chili recipe, left out the meat and tweaked some of the seasonings) , Orowheat thins w/butter, (I probably should have added a veggie but oh well whatya gonna do?)
How did you do over the holidays did you stick to your caloric goals? Or will you be working off a few bad decisions through the better part of January?? (I am going to have to keep it real and say I fall into the latter category, but I had a good time and am willing to deal with the consequences of my actions:)

FF- KettleWorX Review and Giveaway!!!

I had the opportunity to review the KettleWorx Ultra Package. One of the personal trainers at my gym had told me how much she enjoyed working out with her Kettlebell so I was eager to try it. I have done a few of the workouts, just to see what they were like after the holidays I plan on doing the full 6 week program and checking out the 6 week healthy eating guide ( I will keep you posted on my progress). It's official Winter is Here!!!

I am so glad that the Running Laur decided to host a virtual run today otherwise I probably wouldn't have gotten any workout in.

So I used mapmyrun.com to plot a mile course pulled myself together and got it done. It was really nice today about 56 when I finally made it out the door, I told myself that I was going for a 9 min mile and managed to finish out in 8:55. Once I got back home I decided to go ahead and do my Kettleworx cardio video. So all in all I think the first day of winter was quite productive. :)

Wednesdays Eat and a Rudi's Organic Bakery Giveaway!!!

I had the opportunity this week to try out some of Rudi's Organic Bakery products. Rudi's Organic Bakery carries a nice selection of Breads, Tortillas, Wraps, Bagels, Muffins and Buns. So I figured i would incorporate my review with my Wednesdays Eats post and then end it with a giveaway!!!

Breakfast was a little late today I didn't get around to it until almost 11. So I kept it light a breakfast shake (frozen fruit, oj, spinach, banana and protein powder) and a Rudi's Multigrain w/ flax english muffin that I topped with peanut butter and pumpkin butter. I didn't finish the shake but inhaled the english muffin it really was filling and yummy.

Lunch was some Progresso Lentil soup a grilled cheese sandwich, what kind of bread is that you ask?? Well that is Rudi's 7 Grain with Flax bread and it is so good it has sunflower, sesame and flax seeds so it had a little crunch to it, like with breakfast I didn't finish all my soup (it was just so-so) but I had no problem finishing my sandwich. ( i just wish i would have added some tomato)

snack time I decided on some freeze dried strawberries and bananas

Dinner was beef with bell peppers and onions over some brown rice.

So now that you have seen what I have eaten let's get down to business. Overall I really enjoyed the Rudi's Bakery items I was able to sample, even my husband has become a fan of the 7 Grain Bread, I am adding the Spelt and 14 Grain Bread to my next shopping list because I am curious to see what those are workin' with. Rudi's Organic Bakery makes wholesome, organic products that taste really good what more can you ask for??

From the Website:

What we do

GoLite TravelLite Tote Review and Discount Code!!!

"GoLite makes high-performance outdoor apparel and equipment that is light on the planet. We inspire people to protect nature by increasing their enjoyment of it."

I recently had the opportunity to review the Golite TraveLite Tote bag in red which just so happens to match my jogging stroller (coincidence or fate you decide). Oh man was I excited, it's funny because growing up I used to poke fun at my mother for carrying larger bags and purses I couldn't understand why anything more than a small bag that fit your wallet, keys and chapstick was needed, with age comes wisdom applies to this situation completely.

Now as a mother, runner, blogger, and just being a woman I fully appreciate space and organization, two things this bag offers. On any given day I can be carting around my netbook, diaper/wipe pouch, wallet, keys, lotion, book (you never know when you'll be waiting and need something to do), water bottle, gym towel, deodorant etc. (I think you probably get the point is I carry a lot of stuff) in various combinations and this bag can carry as much or as little as I need. It has some really great features:

From the Website:

# Built with capacity for a laptop (has a padded bottom), some files, a book, and small essentials
# Quick-access pockets on the front and back keep must-have items at the ready, and internal organizers keep pens and business cards tidy
# Top zipper closes the entire bag and an internal sleeve holds a water bottle securely in place
# Perfect length straps allow for comfortable shoulder or hand carrying of this do-it-all tote
# Contrast-color key fob makes finding your keys a snap
# 100% Tier 1 recycled nylon technical backpack materials taken straight from our backcountry packs provide exceptional

"Made from 1005 recycled materials, this tote is part of the TraveLite collection, the most eco-friendly fabric in the market. Made from Tier 1 Recycled Nylon, it takes 70% less energy and CO2 production to make than a traditional tote, but has all the performance benefits of a bag made from virgin nylon (lighter, tougher and stronger than polyester) It will never rip, fade or stretch . Plus, Tier 1 Nylon is infinitely recyclable."

Personally I think this is a great everyday bag. Its carries comfortably, great pockets and inside compartments not to mention super cute. I have only had the bag a little while but so far I have no complaints.

To purchase or read more about the TravelLite Tote you can check it out at www.golite.com

GoLite has teamed up with 16 other B Corporations to offer discounts to their friends use the code: BCORP09 to receive 40% off your purchase at www.golite.com

Special thanks to OutsidePR for sending me the TraveLite Tote to review. All opinions expressed are my honest and true thougts on the product

Food 411
Instead of a recipe or information about a specific food this week I thought I would make a recommendation for a book I am currently reading. (I am not all the way through it but so far it is a really good read, some food for thought if you will.) What are you currently reading???

“Nina Planck’s personal story of life with baby Julian, from preconception to tending the first tomatoes at their own Small Farm, makes compelling reading. Her no-nonsense, tell-it-like-it-is voice cuts through cant and euphemism like a whiff of sharp cheddar for anyone who wants the real dope. Her basic distinction between real and fake foods makes essential reading not just for mothers with babies, but for all of us who want to live and eat well.”—Betty Fussell, author of The Story of Corn, Raising Steaks, and My Kitchen Wars

Sunday Funny
*I found these a readerdigest.com

Getting in shape:
A friend of mine had resisted efforts to get him to run with our jogging group until his doctor told him he had to exercise. Soon thereafter, he reluctantly joined us for our 5:30 a.m. jogs on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

After a month of running, we decided that my friend might be hooked, especially when he said he had discovered what "runner's euphoria" was. "Runner's euphoria," he explained, "is what I feel at 5:30 on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays." -- Neil P. Budge

Starting that diet:
My friend Kimberly announced that she had started a diet to lose some pounds she had put on recently.

"Good!" I exclaimed. "I'm ready to start a diet too. We can be dieting buddies and help each other out. When I feel the urge to drive out and get a burger and fries, I'll call you first."

"Great!" she replied. "I'll ride with you." -- Katina Fisher

It's A Wonderful Life GiveAway

So today I turned 30, and as much as I thought I would be a tad depressed about that fact I came to realize that gosh darn-it I have way to much to be thankful for to be unhappy. FF-Inperspire Motivational Fitness towel Review

Who doesn't love products that are designed to inspire and motivate??? Well I have a good one for you I was so excited when I came across Inperspire this company makes motivational fitness towels (great idea right??) Dana from over at Inperspire sent me 2 towels the I Run Because I Can towel (sound a little familiar, I love it) and her personal favorite the "haba na haba hujaza kibaba" towel which means "little by little fills the cup" (so true)

I really only have good things to say about this product and company. The towels are great quality I have washed mine several times and they still looks and feel wonderful, I love taking them to the gym and showing them off. But the main things is I just feel good when I go to this site they have such a positive philosophy, they give back to charity. How can you not like a company who's goal it to uplift and motivate so I really hope you will stop by and check Inperspire out

From the Website:

"We believe the world would be a happier place if everyone exercised (it certainly would be a healthier place). We also know that many of us lead busy lives and finding time for ourselves is not always easy.
When you make time to go to the gym, go for a run, or exercise at home we want your workouts to be nothing less than inspired. That is why we came up with the idea of high quality inspirational fitness towels.
Our philosophy is that everyone can be healthy... sometimes we just need a little motivation to help us along the way.
We supply the motivation. You supply the sweat!
Darla, Jimmy, Dana & Greg"

Other towels I really liked

You can see all there great designs at www.inperspire.com, the great news is they just lowered their prices in time for the holidays all their towels can now be purchased for just $10 and there is free ground shipping when you order 2 or more.

I was provided with 2 towels to review from Inperspire. All opinions expressed are my own

You can follow Inperspire on twitter here...
And on Facebook here...

FF -Bondi Band Review

I received this very fitting (for me) moisture wicking hat from Bondi Band to review. Mine is actually pink (I keep forgetting to get a pic) so my next race I will have some pictures with it. I have had the opportunity to wear it on a quick run it is a really comfortable, stretchy material I hate having cold ears at the beginning of a run and this definitely rectifies the problem and at the end of the run when I was all warmed up I was still very comfortable. What I really like is the selection of colors and patterns they have to choose from.

Bondi Band makes has a variety or colors and patterned headbands and hats for men, women, children and even bondi band dog collars for your favorite four legged companion.

The great people from Bondi Band have sent a few of their headbands for me to giveaway to my readers. ( I have included them in my It's A Wonderful Life GiveAway coming up later today)

From The Website:

The Idea
"The simple premise of Bondi Bands is to offer comfy, colorful, and creative headbands to fit every lifestyle and personality.
By using stretchy and breathable material, we allow Bondi Bands to fit virtually every head size comfortably and fashionably.
Our buyers constantly search for the newest and trendiest fabric designs and complement them with traditional craftsmanship to bring our customers the best product available on the market."

You can purchase a Moisture Wicking Hat for $20 and/or a Bondi Band Headband for $8
To learn more about Bondi Band products or to make a purchase you can visit them online at www.bondiband.com

I was provided with a hat by Bondi Band to review. All opinions expressed are my own.

We Interrupt your regularly scheduled program..

..to bring you this very important announcement!!!

I am now the proud owner of my very own jogging stroller (yay!!!)
I will say since the picture of the stroller I had in my cart was fully assembled I was expecting it to arrive at more door in the same fashion, it didn't. Lucky for me and the stroller it was super simple to assemble.
I couldn't wait to take it out for a test run (actually it was a walk) so with Kay securely strapped in we set off to pick up Jazz from preschool, 2.3 miles round trip. (good times)
I now return you to your regularly scheduled program, okay so I usually post my eats on Wednesday so as not to disappoint here we go:

Breakfast:
I felt like pancakes so I doctored up some TJ's Pumpkin Pancake Mix by adding some Flax seeds
and wheat germ.

I had a couple pancakes with a smear of pumpkin butter and a frozen fruit, yogurt, camu powder and o.j smoothie

Lunch:
I have been trying to figure this Butternut Squash soup thing out I've seen it all over blogs but I never tried it until Thanksgiving (my friend made some and it tasted good it just needed something) So I decided to do Butternut Squash soup 2 ways

1st with turkey and feta, 2nd with some green apple and cinnamon
both were good but if I had to choose a winner the apples have it (I think i should have nuked the apple a bit to soften it up) So how do you eat your Butternut Squash Soup?
I through a Orowheat sandwich thin under the broiler for a minute and viola lunch is served
Dinner:
Salmon, mac & cheese with broccoli

That's All Folks

Be sure and stop Friday it's my birthday so I have to give something away right?? How else would I get you to stop by and say Happy Birthday :)
